You Can Never Go Wrong with Robin Thicke and Pharrell

I heard this song on the radio and I have to say, I really love it. It incorporates a sound bite from another song sang by one of the greatest artists of my time, Michael Jackson. I say my time because kids who were not alive to see Michael Jackson at his peak can only imagine the man.
I think, even if you were not alive to witness the power that is Michael, you should listen to his songs at least once. I will never be at peace with the way he departed from this world. His death really did not do him justice. Anyway, I'll preserve that rant for another time. Back to Pharrell and Thicke.

There are very few men (white or black) in the music industry that I consider living, breathing examples of what it means to be a soul musician. People assume that all black people have the capacity to produce soul music. Not necessarily. To produce soul music, much like its meaning, is to bring about a sonic representation of what one feels inside. No human being thinks of sex, 24/7. The only reason why sex is incredibly favored is because it brings about an intense emotion that can be accessed at any time (for MOST men at least). Sex, like drugs, is a form of release. However, many musicians forget that music is itself also a form of release. Yes, sales and profit do matter because the industry is a business. But a true musician is able to not just connect sexually, but also universally. He or she should be able to entice audiences in all fronts of life (sex, school, maturity, responsibility,etc.). Robin Thicke's music incorporates more than the sexual aspect of life. That is why he earns my respect.

Pharrell also is a musician who incorporates soul, however I believe his use of soul is represented more in his beats and lyrics. He is a decent singer, but his beats are what I consider his trademark. That is the reason why he is so successful, not just as a songwriter, but as a producer. His music is what really sets him apart from a large majority of the industry.

Now to the song. Let me put it this way, it's hard not to move your body when this song plays. It is really good for bad days. I'm talking about "Blurred Lines". Enjoy the fresh beats for as long as this song is on Youtube. I really do wish I could get special permission to keep this song on my site (and bypass the bloody adverts), but free is FREE. You take what you can get out of it. Haha! Enjoy!
