The "OG Maco Effect" Reaches Asia! (Viewer Discretion Advised!)

When OG Maco released his official music video for "U Guessed It"on Youtube, I remember wondering how anyone could stand listening to two minutes of this song.

I have to say that OG Maco does produce good hype songs. However, outside of the occasional "wooh!", his rap style and choice of words are nothing out of the ordinary. Plus, the one aspect of this song that really annoys me is the producer's choice of having only two or three instruments playing in the background. I mean, what kind of finished song uses just a beat and a couple of notes played from a piano? That is just lazy. But somehow, SOMEHOW, I knew when I first heard it that this song would make it to stations like 97.9 the Box or 93.7 the Beat. From there, it would spread beyond the U.S border to every rap listener within our stratosphere.

Eventually, aspiring rappers would be producing music using less than eight notes and a beat (I call this phenomenon as the "OG Maco Effect"). Needless to say, my predictions came true. This past fall, "U Guessed It" was all the radio stations and clubs were playing. Today, I just received confirmation that a group of Asian musicians released a spin-off of this song last month. The song is called "It G Ma" and it sounds just as wacky as "U Guessed It". Check it out and don't forget to comment. Tell me how long you think the "OG Maco Effect" will last. A month? Two months? A year?
