I love inventions that help people overcome difficult obstacles....
Here is a story from The Guardian (which a very brilliant musician named Heike Matthiesen shared on Google+). It is about a concert simulator made by the Royal College of Music in London "in collaboration with a Swiss Consortium" that helps musicians get ready for break-out, concert performances. In a nutshell, the simulator imitates a concert environment that includes an interactive virtual crowd that claps, yawns and even boos (yikes!). The technology goes one step further by taking into account factors like lighting. I wish I had something like this when I was preparing for my recitals in middle school. You can find the full article here and The Royal College of Music was kind enough to post a Youtube video, providing a glimpse of how the simulator works.
It would be nice if they continue to develop this wonderful, new piece of technology. I see a lot of musicians benefiting from it in the long run. In a couple of decades, we might even see these kinds of simulators in public schools. Wouldn't that be something?
