Love Lost In Silence

Many times, we find ourselves unable to communicate our fears, wants and frustrations to those who we hold close to our hearts.
We continue telling ourselves that our actions are for the sole purpose of protecting the familiar relationship that we have come to accept as proof of understanding. However, how can you claim to know someone if you are unable to truthfully communicate feelings that will, no-doubt, intensify?

It is fair to say that not all people, who refuse to truthfully communicate their feelings for another, are unhappy. Some people are really quite content maintaining an uncertain relationship. However, problems that haunt one's being never really shrink and disappear. They only grow and grow until we find ourselves saying things and/or doing things that make it more difficult to maintain that relationship. The world of music is full of songs filled with regret, sorrow and anger from musicians who refuse to say anything when they have the chance.

However, we can choose to act. Why wait to say something? Why place yourself in a corner? If your appearance (or behavior) changes as a  result of taking that vow of silence, then you have already surrendered a mutual future where both of you know where each other stands. It becomes a game of chicken where the last one who blinks, loses the bet. Will you be willing to accept what is left when everything is said and done?

Be truthful to yourself and speak up! Take back the power you have to change your future. Say what's in your heart and let fate do the rest.
