This man epitomized "Dirty Rap" with his unorthodox lyrics and lewd jingles that was as shocking then as it is now. That said, singer/rapper Clarence Reid (a.k.a Blowfly) did have an odd way of telling stories that many people could relate to. Though his music was not meant for everyone (even in today's standards), his words did have an impact on a large number of people. To those people who could get past the vulgarity and lewdness, his songs carried warning signs about sensitive issues like STDs, drugs and unprotected sex.
So I am dedicating this post in memory of Mr. Clarence Reid who died on January 18th 2016 from terminal liver cancer. He was 76 years old. May he forever find peace among some of the great musicians of our time.
Usually I would include one of his songs, but I was not able to find any that wasn't X-Rated. If any of you know any "less vulgar" songs by him, let me know.
Also, if any of you are interested in listening to his music, you can find it on Youtube. Just type "Blowfly".
