Yay for good news! A couple of days ago, an extraordinary thing happened. An actor went beyond his Hollywood role to become a real life hero. I am talking about Jamie Foxx.
According to TMZ.com, "at around 8:30 P.M on Monday, 25th January 2016", a man crashed his car near Mr. Foxx's Hidden Valley home. According to the LA Times, the condition on the road was wet and the driver lost control. I presume the car was going rather fast because it "reportedly hit a drainage pipe and concrete and flipped several times before catching fire". I was not able to find anything about how fast the car was going. What has been confirmed is that Jamie Foxx and one other man sprung into action. Both individuals proceeded to get the man, who thankfully had his seat belt on, out of the burning car. The man involved who has been identified as Brad Kyle, was rushed to the hospital by means of ambulance. However, he was later booked for driving under the influence so his problems are just beginning. Thankfully, the worst of it is over.
First and foremost, a lot of credit needs to be given to both Mr. Foxx and the man who collaborated with him to get Mr. Kyle out of the car. This was a joint effort and both men deserve more than a pat on the back for their heroism. So thank you gentlemen for going beyond your line of work to save this young man before things got considerably worse.
Secondly, I am proud to see an actor physically become involved in the well being of another. I think many of us have a rather jaded view of most actors, as pampered people who can only act as heroes but refuse to do so in real life because they are more focused on keeping up their lavished lifestyles. Even those actors who give money to charities do not get as much attention because they are not physically involved in the causes that they give money to. It is so easy (and economically favorable) to give money to a non-profit organization and never leave the luxury of your home or apartment. You never have to interact with the people who these charities allege to help. However, to go that extra step and physically labor alongside workers to put up a school or establish drinking water for an impoverished town is much more impacting.
The fact that Mr. Foxx acted the way he did to an event that was not scripted or prepared shows that he possesses some capacity to get out of his comfort zone and lay his life on the line before anything else to save another. So thank you Mr. Foxx for doing the heroic thing and thank you to the unidentified man who accompanied him. We need more people like you two men in this world.

P.S. Is it me or does the whole thing oddly resemble the movie Annie?
