I Wake Up The Sun, Not The Other Way Round

Something for all you MY (Modern Youth) viewers who get up early every morning to go to work.
Sometimes, I wake up early in the morning and ask myself why bother waking up? The world will continue to move whether I get out of bed or not. That may be true but it does not stop some of the chief executive officers (CEOs) of the world from doing their jobs every day. Why is that?

The easy answer is that they run important multi-million dollar companies. They wake up because they have to. Without them, companies don't run. That's not entirely true though. They do run very valuable companies and the actions they take ultimately affect those companies. However, many companies still exist after passing through multiple CEOs.

So why do CEOs get out of bed in the morning? They can obviously be replaced. Plus I don't believe any amount of money is worth staying in a position that makes you miserable every day.

I believe they get out of bed every morning because they believe that any decision made without their approval is a failed decision. The company they run may be good without them, but it cannot be GREAT without them. Ultimately, they own that position. That's when the wheels in my head begin to turn.

If a CEO can own his/her job, why can't I? Why can't I be the CEO of Monetary Transfer (i.e. cash register) for a store or CEO of Software Modifications and Enhancements (i.e. software developer) for a corporation? The world will indeed continue with or without me, but my presence makes the world a lot better off. Then, with a new air of confidence, I put on some music and start my day.

I share this story, not to dissuade any of you from feeling miserable just to make myself look better. There is nothing wrong with feeling miserable once in a while. That's your body's way of telling you that something is not right. It's your body's way of distancing you from things that may potentially hurt you. However, you have to be able to tell your body that it is okay. You own everything in this life from your clothes to your job. You are the CEO of your job and the company you work for is better off with you than without you.
