Jumanji Remake At A Bad Start?

I don't like where all this is going........

It was confirmed a couple days ago that the director of the new Jumanji remake would be Jake Kasdan. I will say, on record, that I have no problems with Jake Kasdan as the director. There is a good chance that many of you have viewed work that he had a hand in producing/directing. Mr. Kasdan has quite the repertoire in producing and/or directing quite well-known television shows like New Girls, Californication and Freaks and Geeks.
He also has experience in directing and/or producing some big screen films. Does anybody remember Sex Tape starring the beautiful Ms. Cameron Diaz and the funny Mr. Jason Segel? Or maybe Bad Teacher which also stars Ms. Diaz? According to IMDB, Mr. Kasdan was the executive producer and director of both of these comedies. So he has proven more than capable to take this task on.

What bothers me is the expected release date of the movie, which is December 25th 2016. You read that right--December 25th. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Jake Kasdan's signing on as director of this movie on January 14th 2016. He has a little over 11 months to get the cast and necessary personnel together, approve a bunch of stuff (location, script, set and costume designs to name a few), get everyone involved up to speed, shoot the film, oversee the edits, etc. (The list of responsibilities is very long). So I find it hard to believe that he can get all this done in 11 months, assuming that he is starting from fresh.

Let me stress that there may be some inconsistencies with my logic and what has already been set in motion. Maybe he already has all of these things done and we are all a little late in the updates (which is not impossible but highly unlikely considering that my source of information is The Hollywood Reporter)? Maybe the final product won't be hitting the big screen and will go straight to DVD and Blu-ray (which I think would be rather disappointing for Jumanji enthusiasts everywhere)? Maybe he has foreseen these potential pitfalls and has already asked for an extension? I can neither confirm nor deny any of these questions. The only person who has a clear idea of what is going on is Mr. Kasdan himself, his representatives, and quite possible all those directly working under him.

I'm just a concerned movie-goer who hopes that one of the most well-known movies, starring one of the world's best-loved comedians (RIP Mr. Robin Williams), will not turn out to be a failure. So Mr. Kasdan, if you somehow find your way to this site post, give us a sign that everything will be okay.

Here is one of my favorite scenes from the movie. Enjoy!
