What do you expect? Sex sells. She does, however, allude to the question of whether celebrities are safer now from obsessed fans than they were in the past. Luckily, Selena's character is not crazy enough to lunge at Mr. Mason with a knife but there have been cases where celebrities (or their families) have either been kidnapped, nearly kidnapped or killed by an obsessed fan.
