And Normal Music presents Carlton Smith....
It has been a while since I dedicated a post to an individual with potential, but has yet to shatter the ceiling keeping her/him from Fame and Fortune. Well, today I am breaking that slump with the introduction of Mr. Carlton Smith. I came across this soulful talent while binge watching on You Tube singers performing the United States National Anthem. Mr. Smith caught my attention not just because of his handsome voice, but because of the situation surrounding his performance.
You see, Mr. Smith was not suppose to perform the anthem on the day the video was recorded. Actually, another singer by the name of Ms. Leslie Dorchester was meant to perform the song on that day. However, she could not make it due to traffic delays. To Ms. Dorchester's defense, West Virginia on January can be quite brutal due to the unforgiving snowstorms. But they say that one man's (or woman's) misfortune is another's blessing. As it were, Mr. Smith was on duty that day(he currently works in law enforcement) and was asked to sing the national anthem on Ms. Dorchester's behalf (in full uniform if I might add).
Long story short, everything worked out in the end. Mr. Carlton Smith was called back to sing the national anthem with Ms. Leslie Dorchester and that's how I stumbled on his performance. Sadly, The Modern Youth cannot show you the performance at this time. We are currently trying to reach out to West Virginia University to get permission to show the video of Mr. Smith's performance. However, don't fret. Mr. Smith actually has a long history of singing. He was even in American Idol. Shocker. I could rant about American Idol, but there will be plenty of opportunities. This is not one of them.
So without further adieu, I present Carlton Smith's rendition of Brian McKnight's "Crazy Love". Enjoy!

Special thanks to Mr. Carlton Smith for sharing the video on his You Tube channel. Feel free to "like" the video on its official You Tube page and don't forget to leave a comment of appreciation to Mr. Smith. Until next time....
