George Michael, you shall be missed.
On Christmas
Day, December 25th 2016, another icon left the world at such a young
age. Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, also known as George Michael, passed away at
53. According to the BBC, “[George Michael’s] manager, Michael Lippman” says it was
due to heart failure. Investigators at Goring, Oxfordshire, are still
determining the cause of the heart failure.
As much as
George Michael’s death matters to all following this story, the way he lived holds
equal, if not greater, importance. As the former member of WHAM!, Mr. Michael was the voice to multiple hit singles like “Wake
Me Up Before You Go-Go” and “Lost Christmas”. He performed duets with artists
like Sir Elton John and Ms. Aretha Franklin. His contributions to music touched
professional and amateur artists alike.
With the
approach of the New Year, we, at The
Modern Youth, celebrate George Michael’s life and all who he affected by
collecting a handful of songs he sang and song covers performed by some very
