Christmas 2016 is Over, On To New Year 2017!

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Holidays!

I spent my Christmas weekend away from the computer (and work in general) to enjoy time off with family. It was one of the best Christmas’ of my lifetime. Family and friends who I have not seen in ages came to eat, drink and be merry. Actually, connecting with family is one of the big reasons why I look forward to Christmas. The presents and eggnog are just bonuses.

But outside of that, a lot has happened in the past few days. Hot new trailer releases, concerns centered on a certain star’s health and the unforeseen death of another musical icon. Because I am someone who prefers bad news before good news, let’s hit the bad news first.
Yesterday, on Christmas Day, we lost George Michaels who passed away from heart failure at a young age of 53. Right now, no one can say what caused the heart failure. We expect more information in the coming days.

As is customary at The Modern Youth, we will honor the life of Mr. George Michael in the coming post and reflect on some of the lives he and his music affected. So please look forward to it.
In brighter news, multiple news sources report that the Star Wars actress, Ms. Carrie Fisher, is in stable condition after being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The 60-year-old actress was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital after collapsing on a flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday. The reason was an apparent heart attack. This is major news, especially for Star Wars fans, because of Ms. Fisher’s active role in the upcoming Star Wars films. Personally, I am thrilled to hear that Ms. Fisher is getting better. I don’t think I handle some CG version of her. Seeing Grand Moff Tarkin on Star Wars: Rogue One was a little too much for me. Speaking of Rogue One, I’ll be touching on my experience watching the movie in a post or two, so keep your eyes peeled.

Lastly, some interesting trailers dropped last week. One of these trailers has me jumping for joy and I will tell you which one in one of my upcoming posts.

In a nutshell, there is plenty to look forward to as we welcome the incoming year. So let’s get to it!
