Ladies and gentlemen of the cyber-universe, I am in dire need of reassurance right now!
I heard this nice, slow song on the radio while I was on my way to school one day. It started like any other slow song. First came the background instrumentals. Then came the sound of one of the vocalists, Chris Brown. Then all of a sudden, "We the best music!" *Record scratch*
I'm sorry, but what the what?! Isn't that DJ Khaled's trademark proclamation (minus the "music"). Am I the only one who for some reason thought DJ Khaled was not physically capable of producing slow songs? No disrespect to him. He has been responsible for a lot of sick beats, but I have never known him for producing something so personal. It surprised me...in a good way. Now I can say that he has the potential to be one of the best all around producers in the music industry.
Before I leave, I also watched the music video and I have mixed feelings about it. I thought it would be more personal and not so sexual. I mean, it too closely follows the stereotypical trend of many post-millennium R&B music videos. Chicks with a swollen behinds either posing or dancing seductively, finding themselves in awkwardly compromising positions. I know there are some of you who like that sort of thing (I know I do from time-to-time), but I didn't think the over-the-top sexual undertones was necessary. In my opinion, the sexuality killed it for me. But let me hear what you all think. Do you think the sexual nature of the music video fits the song or did you expect something a little more? The music video is posted below, so please don't forget to comment.

Why? For one, he somehow brings Chris Brown, Jeremih and August Alsina together to stir up a solid collaboration. I mean, this is one of those songs that takes me back to the days of Keith Sweat (for any of you 90's babies, remember "Twisted" with Kut Klose. What happened to that group?). Secondly the beat is not just catchy, it sparks the imagination long before you ever hear any of the words. So I think it is high time I share this song, "Hold You Down" by DJ Khaled, with all of you. For those of you who have not heard this song before, enjoy! For those of you who have, enjoy AGAIN! :)
