Christmas Day is right around the corner, and people of different races, ages, creeds (you don’t have to be Christian to enjoy Christmas. A holiday is a holiday, after all) and sexual orientations are taking time off to spend with loved ones.
Currently, it is almost impossible not to see some form of
Christmas sentiment, especially if you live in a western country. From persistent
ads pitching the hottest gadgets to your neighbor’s obnoxious, brightly
decorated front lawn, the Christmas spirit is everywhere. That said, this time
is as much a moment of reflection as it is a point of present giving and
elaborate decorations. We have a lot to be thankful for. We equally have a lot
to be upset about. It just depends on where you stand in the ‘glass half full,
glass half empty’ analogy. Maybe your year has been great. Maybe your year has
been an absolute nightmare.
The fact remains that we are living in a constantly, evolving
world. In other words, there are still so many opportunities that we have yet
to experience. We still have a chance to learn and improve ourselves heading
into the new year. To me, that is worth being thankful for.
So let’s kick off the holiday spirit with a Christmas song original
called “I Wish Everyday Could Be Christmas” by Mr. Earnest Williams. On behalf
of all of us at The Modern Youth, Happy
Holidays, festive Kwanzaa, a cheery Hanukkah and a very merry Christmas.
Enjoy!
